Doha Academy is a growing group of schools situated in the heart of Qatar’s cosmopolitan capital city. Founded in 2000, Doha Academy currently consists of three schools and offers a KG-13, British-based and Qatar national curriculum. Currently we’re looking for a Social worker/School Councilor
- Conducts, coordinates, or uses assessments and evaluations to develop appropriate interventions for students, families, schools, and communities
- Develops long-term and short-term intervention plans consistent with curriculum; students’ needs, strengths, diversity and life experiences; and social and emotional factors
- Uses a variety of appropriate formal and informal tools and techniques including observations and interviews to evaluate the progress and performance of students and families
- Addresses the needs of the school, student, families, and community by collaborating with school based, planning, and/or community-based teams to design a holistic approach to any barriers or problems with the educational process
Direct Services / Service Delivery
Uses knowledge and understanding of the reciprocal influences of home, school, and community to intervene for student success via such practices as assessment, crisis intervention and response, home visits, conflict resolution, individual and group counselling, consultation, program development, dropout prevention, special education programs and related services, graduation awareness, and coordination of school and community services.
- Promotes family support of students’ learning experience within the context of multicultural understanding and competencies
- Provides services to students in ways that build upon individual strengths and offers students maximum opportunities to participate in the planning and direction of their own learning experience
- Develops and provides training and educational programs that address the goals and mission of the educational institution
General Duties and Responsibilities
- Develops, maintains, and monitors written plans that encourage student success
- Maintains written records / incident reports related to student behavioral issues, parent meetings and other matters related to but not limited to school issues
- Maintain written records under his / her custody and saves them for at least five years
- Maintains accurate case records and documentation in files and in the Personal Computer

- Follow School’s policies and procedures
- Set a good example in terms of dress, punctuality and attendance
- Attend and participate in open evenings and report on pupil progress
- Uphold the school’s behavior code and uniform regulations
- Participate and contribute to staff training
- Attend team and staff meetings
- Positively embrace professional development and research
- Ability to reflect on and improve performance
Additional Duties
- Be a role model in all his/her actions and behavior
- To undertake professional development and research as agreed
- To be aware of and comply with policies and procedures relating to Child Protection and safeguarding, Health and Safety, and report all concerns to the appropriate person
- To take part in activities such as Open Evenings, Parents’ Evenings, Sports days etc.
