The College of Allied Health Sciences (CAHS) at Augusta University is seeking an Assistant/Associate
Professor in the Master of Health Science in Speech-Language Pathology (SLP) graduate program. The SLP faculty position requires a
willingness and commitment to engage with best practice initiatives in instruction and pedagogy, mentoring, and curriculum design and
development. Job responsibilities will include teaching, service, and scholarship responsibilities consistent with the mission and vision of
the SLP department and program. Additional job duties will include the organization, coordination, and communication with prospective
students throughout the application and admissions process. This is a non-tenure track position.
Responsibilities
Teaching- 80%
-Teach courses according to the institution, accreditor, and program policies;
-Advise graduate students accordingly on university, college, and program policies;
-Prepare course content and syllabi
relevant to the plan of study, prepare lessons, and teaching assignments;
-Assist in clinical supervision of graduate students;
-Assist in interviewing and recruiting prospective student applicants during the application process;
-Assist with the
procedures and processes to maintain accreditation with the appropriate credentialed agency.
Scholarship- 10%
-Participate in scholarship activities to include research, presentations, and publications.
Service-
10%
-Participate in service to the institution, college and department by serving on committees at all levels.
Other Duties:
-Performs other duties as assigned for the growth of the program;
-Report to
the Program Director/Chair for the Department of Speech-Language Pathology.
Required Qualifications
Master’s
Degree speech language pathology or communication disorders. PhD, EdD or other terminal degree.
Licensed speech language pathologist.
Certificate of Clinical Competence in Speech-Language Pathology (CCC-CLP)
Assistant Professor– early-level career as a
faculty member 0-4 years experience is related field.
Associate Professor– mid-level career faculty member with at least five
years at the rank of Assistant Professor or comparable training, background, and experience.
Required faculty employment
qualifications for all USG institutions and all academic ranks within these institutions shall be:
- Consistent with the Southern
Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC) requirements for institutional accreditation; - Evidence of
ability as a teacher; - Evidence of activity as a scholar and ability in all other duties assigned;
- Successful experience
(which will necessarily be waived for those just entering the academic profession who meet all other requirements); and, - Desirable
personal qualities judged on the basis of personal interview, complete biographical data, and recommendations.
Preferred
Qualifications
At least 7 years’ experience as a practicing speech language pathologist and 5 years in teaching.
Shift/Salary/Benefits
This position is fiscal year based and works year-round.
The intended work commitment
or full-time equivalent (FTE) for this position is 1.0 and considered full-time.
Assistant Professor– Salary and compensation
is commensurate with education, experience, and achievements. The salary is subject to availability of funds.
