Social Media Coordinator

Job Summary

Red Butte Garden’s marketing and communications team is
working to elevate the Garden’s public profile and to build deeper connections with existing audiences and attract new ones. The social
media coordinator/multimedia content creator will develop strategy, tactics, and content to support these goals and help drive audience
growth online and in person.

Reports to director of marketing and PR. Works independently and in collaboration with the MarCom team.
Maintains and enhances internal staff relationships through friendly, cross-functional team support. No supervisory responsibility.

Responsibilities
Social Media and Online
Community Management

  • Create, generate, and coordinate communications on all Garden social media platforms, currently
    Instagram, Facebook, YouTube, X (Twitter), TikTok, Pinterest, and LinkedIn
  • Create a content calendar to ensure regular and
    consistent posting that aligns with departmental content strategy and amplifies key stories from Garden website, member newsletter, and
    other communications
  • Collaborate with staff and volunteers to incorporate horticulture, education, conservation-research, and
    guest services news, events, projects, and stories into social communications
  • Monitor and respond to comments and messages, and
    monitor social channels for Garden mentions
  • Create and maintain relationships with influencers
  • Track and analyze social
    and web metrics to review content performance and inform strategic direction. Create regular reports of reach and engagement across
    platforms.
  • Works with marketing communications specialist to help develop and implement social media advertising strategies and
    multimedia web content
  • Manage and respond to guests on review sites: Yelp, Google Business (profile, reviews, maps, etc.)
  • Stay up to date on new and best social media practices

Photography, Video, and Multimedia Production

  • Create multimedia content for use on social media, website, and other digital channels, utilizing photography, videography, audio
    production, and dynamic digital storytelling
  • Engage stakeholders from across the organization to create meaningful stories and
    relevant content to share digitally
  • Explore and recommend new digital communication methods and technologies to engage with guests
    and other audiences
  • Transcribe and apply captions to all video productions in support of accessibility
  • Routinely
    photograph and video guests, members, donors, volunteers, and staff enjoying and engaging with the Garden and programming

General

  • Other departmental duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications
Bachelors Degree in
Marketing, Communications, or a related area, or equivalency (one year of education can be substituted for two years of related work
experience). One year of related experience and demonstrated human relations and effective communication skills required. Experience in
different styles of writing, publishing software packages and advertising concepts may be preferred.

  • Exceptional storytelling, copywriting, and visual content creation skills, including videography, photography, audio recording, and
    editing
  • Experience managing a variety of social media platforms
  • Initiative, detail-orientation, and ability to organize
    and prioritize
  • Open to new ideas and influences, able to adopt new skills, and quick to react to changing trends and
    technologies
  • Ability to bring fresh, new ideas to all aspects of the Garden marketing department while maintaining a consistent
    brand identity
  • Ability to meet deadlines and manage multiple projects simultaneously with accuracy, composure, and a professional,
    upbeat can-do attitude
  • Demonstrates tact, discretion, and good judgment as part of establishing and maintaining effective working
    relationships with co-workers, guests, and others

weekend and evening work may be required.

Rate Range:
$40,000-43,000 including an excellent benefit package.
