Job Description
Yale University’s Department of English Language and Literature invites applications for a position as a tenured Associate Professor or Full Professor in Early Modern Drama, especially Shakespeare, beginning July 1, 2025.
We are searching broadly for an outstanding scholar, critic, and teacher of early modern drama who, in addition to teaching in the English department, will make inventive use of Yale’s archival and other resources, build connections with colleagues in Comparative Literature, Early Modern Studies, Theater and Performance Studies, and elsewhere, and contribute to Yale’s broader profile in the arts and humanities. A record of, or potential for, outstanding mentorship of graduate students is essential. Desirable areas of expertise include but are not limited to global and comparative contexts, the history of the material text, performance studies, gender and sexuality studies, environmental humanities, and critical race studies.
Please submit a letter of application, describing your research and teaching, and your full curriculum vitae, by clicking the ‘Apply’ button. Direct questions to search committee chair Professor Catherine Nicholson. Review of applications will begin November 1, 2023.
