Description & Details:

Within this role you will be expected to contribute collaboratively to NDAWN’s production system that provides impactful agriculture weather information, analytics, and insight to support regional agricultural industry decisions. To achieve our goals, we are seeking a talented developer who is familiar with working in a collaborative Linux production environment and has the necessary tool set to succeed and passion for our industry. You will be expected to complete programming tasks timely as requested and work on a range of projects embodying the spectrum of our production system from front-end to back-end. Together we will build upon NDAWN’s ever expanding weather station network by developing cutting edge software which supports solutions to real world agriculture problems through modern analytics.

Responsibilities:

  • Communicate with NDAWN Team members to identify end-user needs, requirements, and implement solutions.
  • Build user-friendly interfaces and dashboards to visualize and present data insights effectively.
  • Identify and troubleshoot software defects and performance bottlenecks.
  • Modernization of the NDAWN code base.
  • Assist with maintaining existing NDAWN website, database, and servers.

Work Schedule:

Primarily Monday through Friday, 8:00 am – 5:00 pm

Advertised Salary:

$70,000

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution in Computer Science or Bachelor’s degree in a related Formal or Physical Science with professional experience in a computational field or Associate degree in a computational field with significant related professional production experience
  • Experience in software development or in a related computational field
  • Experience working in a Linux environment
  • Experience working in a collaborative development environment using associated tools (eg.
  • version control, issue tracking, documentation, testing, CI/CD, SDLC)
  • Experience with relational databases (eg. PostgreSQL, MySQL)
  • Expertise in one or more programming languages (eg. Python, C/C++, Java, Shell/Bash) and willingness and ability to learn new languages to suit needs
  • A US Citizen or US Permanent Resident or person authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with Linux systems administration in a production environment
  • Professional experience working with PostgreSQL database systems
  • Professional experience working with modern web development (JavaScript, HTML, and CSS)
  • Ability to adapt and grow in assignments as required
  • Demonstrated leadership and ability to work independently as well as part of a collaborative team
  • Experience within the agricultural and/or meteorological industry
