Job Description


Faculty of Social Sciences 

The successful candidate must possess a PhD from a recognized university, which should be in Accounting or a closely related field. 

Candidates should also possess:

  • Teaching experience at a recognized university
  • Substantial record of research and publications in reputable, peer-reviewed journals
  • Expertise in at least one (1) of the following areas:
    • Auditing
    • Assurance
    • Taxation
    • Accounting Information Systems
    • Theory and Practice
    • Contemporary Issues in Accounting
  • Demonstrated proficiency to teach a range of courses in the Accounting discipline 

Candidates with the following would have an advantage:

  • Professional qualification or Masters in Accounting or closely related field
  • Postgraduate teaching experience
  • Experience in course management
  • Supervision of postgraduate and undergraduate students
  • Prior evidence of the development of curricula and provision of academic leadership in the discipline 

The following would be considered assets:

  • Certificate in university teaching and learning
  • Experience in the practice of Accounting at a senior level in industry or in an Accounting environment
  • Consultancy experience in Accounting or a closely related field
  • Prior evidence of organization of seminars and workshops in the discipline
  • Proficiency in teaching any other closely related Management discipline

Special Responsibilities 

  • Teaching courses at the undergraduate and postgraduate levels in Accounting
  • Participating in the design and management of courses
  • Developing a research programme and providing ongoing revision of the curriculum to keep abreast of development and innovation
  • Supervising undergraduate and postgraduate research projects
  • Collaborating at the Departmental and Faculty levels to engage in community outreach activities
