Communications Assistant
Permanent, Full-Time

The District of West Vancouver Communications Department is now accepting applications for a permanent full-time Communications Assistant.
This role involves technical communications work performed in support of an established communications program. Duties include ensuring for the daily maintenance of internal and external corporate websites; reviewing website and newsletter content submissions for clarity and compliance with website editorial guidelines; and developing and coordinating approvals and executing, monitoring and tracking analytics of social media campaigns, and posting content to social media. The role’s responsibilities include regular administrative tasks and special projects as required. While supporting the District’s email marketing system and online engagement tools, the successful candidate ensures functionality of the website and recommends and supports the development of appropriate graphics for social media to support content, including video creation. Considerable independence of action and judgement are exercised daily, referring more complex or unusual matters to a superior.
The successful candidate has knowledge of the principles, practices, methods and techniques used in communications, experience with software applications and social media platforms used and is familiar with the functions and operations of the District departments. Completion of a diploma program in communications, public relations or journalism plus related experience; or an equivalent combination of training and experience is considered an asset.
The successful candidate is required to supply a police information check and a copy of their credentials.

Position Status:
Union (WVMEA) – Permanent Full-Time.
Hours of Work:
35 hours per week (hours and days of work may vary).
Rate of Pay:
$31.55 per hour – This position has a pay structure with five steps which increase annually.
