Job Summary/Basic Function
An exempt position responsible for generating new sponsored clinical research activity among the faculty and staff of Wright State University Boonshoft School of Medicine (SOM) and the professional staff of Premier Health Partners’ affiliated hospitals and outpatient facilities.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree required;
- Minimum 3 years’ experience in the field of clinical research, either university-based or private.
- The ideal candidate must demonstrate professionalism and effective oral, and written communication skills.
- The ideal candidate must have effective time management skills. This individual must be able to prioritize responsibilities, maintain project timelines, and trouble shoot potential delays.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree preferably in one of the following disciplines: marketing, public relations, communications, sales, journalism, or business. Master’s degree preferred.
- Demonstrated knowledge and insight into legal and regulatory matters concerning clinical research.
- Aptitude for operations within healthcare, medical facilities, community outreach.
- Proven ability to maintain professional demeanor, integrity, and discretion; Exceptional customer service skills.
- Ability to exhibit independent initiative and function well in a collaborative team environment.
- Driven, motivated individual positioned to directly impact growth of our clinical research program.
- The ideal candidate will have experience working in various in-patient and out-patient clinical environments and be familiar with integrating research activities into clinical settings.
Essential Functions and percent of time
50% Investigates and secures new sponsored (industry pharmaceutical, foundation or government- funded) clinical trials for the Clinical Trials Research Alliance (CTRA). Contacts prospective clients and actively pursues new business. In conjunction with the CTRA Director, develops and executes a strategic business development plan to manage and cultivate new and existing clinical research partnerships. Monitors medical, technological and demographic factors in the current market to provide recommendations for trial opportunities. Employs effective selling techniques, including presentation focus, pre-visit planning, and critical follow-up. Builds relationships based on trust, engagement, and long-term commitment. Under the direction of leadership, organizes and adjusts scope as needed to capitalize on growth potential and minimize effects of competition. Identifies and aligns trial opportunities to match physician, faculty and professional staff interest and promotes their ability to serve as research team investigators.
30% Networks and meets regularly with current clients and investigators to forge and maintain solid working relationships for continuity of service. Builds and maintains a pipeline of new referral sources through a variety of networking activities, events/conferences, cold calls, and other means to maintain existing program and add new clients.
10% Develops, tracks and analyzes business development metrics. Reports to leadership any trends determined through data searches or input gained from communications. Disseminates updated CTRA information to associates via newsletter, and various other modes of communication.
10% Formulates and implements a marketing plan in coordination with the CTRA Director, including advertising initiatives and promotional activities to optimize CTRA opportunities. Interfaces with community organizations as well as internal sources for use of marketing venues. Increases breadth of reach to new referral sources for potential subject participants. Identifies measurement strategies to access marketing efficiency.
