SUMMARY:
The Information Technology Division is looking for an experienced
person for the Desktop User Experience Team (DUET). This position reports to the Director of DUET. The Assistant Director will be
responsible for planning, implementing, and managing the use of computer technology throughout the organization. Provides leadership for
DUET members responsible for providing IT customers with client computing equipment and support. Works in a team environment and achieves
outstanding service consistently through both proactive and regular communication. Performs related duties as assigned, as necessary, or as
requested by the management. Stays abreast of new technologies, and where appropriate, deploys school-wide technologies. Available on call
during non-business hours, weekends, and holidays.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Oversee and coordinate
the daily activities of the DUET members. - Establish and maintain client computing standards including integration with procurement
processes. - Enforce use of standardized processes and tools for managing client computing assets.
- Establish and maintain
positive working relationships with distributed academic technicians to support collaborative work assignments and increase
standardization. - Collaborate with Helpdesk manager to enhance desktop support capabilities at first point of
contact. - Define, organize, and provide technical leadership for client computing related projects.
- Support client computing
requirements for IT departmental projects. - Evaluate and recommend client computing solutions to enhance user
productivity. - Recruit, hire, evaluate, and develop staff to ensure efficient operations.
- Performs other related duties as
assigned.
Required Qualifications
EDUCATION:
- Bachelor’s Degree in
Information Technology or a related field.
EXPERIENCE:
- Advanced knowledge of Windows based
computer hardware and software. - Extensive knowledge of using and supporting Windows operating system, mobile operating systems, and
a wide variety of software applications, including Microsoft Office. - Experience with Microsoft SCCM and VMWare
Horizon.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
- Ability to effectively manage multiple, competing,
high-priority projects. - Independent problem-solving and decision-making, self-direction, and ability to manage a complex
workload. - Ability to provide excellent customer service and work collaboratively and effectively with peers.
- An
understanding of data networks and telecommunications standards and components. - Ability to manage multiple clients in a fast-paced
environment. - Must have excellent organizational and project management skills.
- Must have strong written and verbal
communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in a higher education, military, or
related not-for-profit setting preferred. - Strong theoretical and practical understanding of the OSI model, WAN technologies, and LAN
technologies.
