Posting Summary

Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, is seeking a per diem Web Support Specialist for the department of Psychiatry at the Robert Wood Johnson Medical School.

Responsible for maintaining and updating the content of the organization’s website. Works closely with staff and faculty to design and layout of the website. Works cooperatively with IST to implement and support media production, applications, and other educational technologies that enhance learning and communications among students, faculty, and staff.

Among the key duties of this position are the following:

  • Under direction and in collaboration with faculty and staff, is responsible for coordinating aspects of planning, designing, developing, implementing, maintaining, and evaluating the organization’s website.
  • Ensures website is user-friendly and professional by supporting and integrating technologies to enhance learning and further the organization’s mission.
  • Manages and conducts the maintenance of the web course management system. Serves as primary point of contact for faculty and staff for handling technical management and support for migrating existing web courses and developing new web courses for the WebCT Vista environment.
  • Meets with organization’s management and staff to determine their needs for information on the organization’s website. Takes their input and confers with appropriate UMDNJ IST staff to identify database/programs for user-friendly input and acts as IST liaison.
  • Coordinates the development of interactive forms with appropriate UMDNJ IST staff for various projects such as course schedule, on-line registration, and academic support services.

Terms of Appointment: Staff – 12 month

Position Pension Eligibility: NOT ELIGIBLE

Minimum Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Educational Technology, or Information Technology or related field plus two (2) years of demonstrated professional experience with Internet protocols, web design tools, creating and managing directory structure, and designing computer interfaces for user input.
  • Associate’s degree or professional certificate from a technical school in the specified areas may be accepted in lieu of the education requirement and/or equivalent education, experience and/or training.

  • Physical Demands: Standing, sitting, walking, talking, or hearing. No special vision requirements. Must be able to lift or exert up to 25 pounds. 
  • Work Environment: Office environment. Moderate noise.
