Aston University is a thriving HE institution in the heart of Birmingham. 

Financial Operations at Aston University manages the day-to-day financial transactions of the University and supports budget holders across the institution to maintain financial control.

Reporting to the Accounts Receivable Manager, the Accounts Receivable (AR) Assistant be responsible for: 

  • chasing overdue debts to maximise student and commercial income collection
  • contribute to the student experience by providing support and advice to debtors on their settlement
  • perform daily bank reconciliations
  • recording transactions and clearing variances 
  • support the treasury function with month end bank account and balance sheet reconciliation
  • providing ad hoc investigation and analysis.   

This is a great opportunity to join a young dynamic team and be part of the wider finance team supporting the University, with opportunities to develop finance skills.

 You should be able to work effectively both individually and within a team. You should also have excellent communication skills and be able to establish a rapport with a wide range of stakeholders. You should also be able to confidently use Excel – in particular V -Look up, pivot tables and graphs and have an eye for detail and accuracy.
