The Springfield College Department of Public Health and Health Professions invites applications for a full-time twelve-month program-track faculty position as Director of Clinical Education in Speech-Language Pathology, beginning in August 2024.

Responsibilities

Springfield College offers an undergraduate major in Communication Sciences and Disorders, which prepares students for graduate study in Speech-Language Pathology and Audiology, and for Massachusetts licensure as a Speech-Language Pathology Assistant (SLPA). The new hire will play a vital role in the establishment of a new master’s program in Speech-Language Pathology. The primary responsibilities are teaching, mentoring, advising, and clinical supervision of students. The new hire will be responsible for all aspects of meeting the CAA standards for clinical education in collaboration with the program director. Additional responsibilities include scholarship and service to the School, College, and profession.
The School of Health Sciences includes programs in Physician Assistant Studies, Occupational Therapy, Physical Therapy, Communication Sciences and Disorders, Health Sciences, Emergency Medical Services, Gerontology, and Public Health. The School is housed in spectacular new Health Sciences Center, featuring stellar facilities, including: an interprofessional simulation suite featuring all-new high-fidelity simulation and standardized participant programming; a maker space enabling a vast array of creative projects supporting health and wellness; an activities of daily living suite to promote real-life applications of rehabilitation and emergency medical practices; a sunlit human donor anatomy lab; classrooms, conference rooms, and several laboratories (including a data visualization lab) – all with state-of-the art technology. Interdisciplinary collaboration, professionalism, engaged student learning, as well as global, intergenerational, and multicultural perspectives are priorities of the School.

Qualifications

Successful candidates will have an earned master’s degree in speech-language pathology or a related field and hold the Certificate of Clinical Competence from the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association. The ideal candidate will have (or be eligible to obtain) Massachusetts licensure in Speech-Language Pathology and teaching/clinical supervision experience in higher education. An earned research or clinical doctorate, previous experience in program development, and expertise in interprofessional education/interprofessional practice will enhance the application.
