Job Description

Job Summary

Lead the Global Water Resources effort for AECOM. This includes the following: dams/hydro/pump storage, floodplain/flood, ecosystem restoration, stormwater, water supply / drought, heavy civil (levees, ports, tunnels …), resilience and disaster markets. The position oversees the bookings of approximately $600MM annually. The expectation is to drive annual growth of between 10% and 20%. The individual ideally would be a recognized individual within Water Resources and have deep client relationships and excellent communication skills.

We offer a competitive compensation package to include base salary, annual bonus, stock options, and flexible office-home balance. All major US locations will be considered.

Responsibilities:

  • Works jointly with the Water Resources Business Line Leaders to develop the vision, objectives, metrics, plans and structure for the business development function for the market sectors. Works closely with management across the organization to: monitor the market across the business; strategizes with business leaders on emerging market issues and opportunities; and develops and drives business development strategies to obtain new sales or increased sales with existing customers.
  • Works with business development personnel across all the company divisions to ensure a coordinated business development function, robust pipeline of opportunities, elimination of barriers, enhanced cooperation and achievement and capture of business objectives; leverage capabilities; and avoid organizational disconnects and ensure harmonization. This includes, but not limited to:
      • Develop, and lead implementation of Global and Regional Strategic Plans
      • Play a major role in the pursuit of the top opportunities and achievement of the sales goals
      • Serve as a technical lead, when appropriate, on major proposals and major projects
      • Lead efforts to develop / update AECOM global and regional brochures and other marketing materials
      • Give presentations at conferences and author technical publications
      • Hold leadership roles and engagement in professional organizations
      • Facilitate, and give when appropriate, strategic client seminars/workshops/lunch-and-learns to support major pursuits or initiatives
      • Facilitate knowledge (technical and marketing) sharing, networking, and collaboration and assist with overcoming organizational silos, including connecting staff with Subject Matter Experts, when needed
  • Develops, maintains and executes a customer engagement plan across Water Resources to establish relationships, understand customer requirements and enable solution development. Actively interfaces with customers and ensures the company is positioned with customers on new and recompete opportunities.
  • Enhances the company’s reputation and image by leveraging prominent events, supporting corporate social responsibility activities, and industry events.
  • Participates in planning for future development and growth of the market sectors; prepares business development approaches and plans and presents such plans.
  • Anticipate market trends to keep AECOM relevant in the industry,
  • Explores, researches, and recommends teaming agreements, joint ventures, and other contractual relationships.
  • Stays current with Water Business Line services and AECOM’s offerings, capabilities, and successes and identifies/develops opportunities to apply such capabilities to customer requirements.
  • Develops and maintains positive relationships and represents the company as appropriate with customers, competitors, industry trade associations, consultants, community organizations, professional societies and similar groups. Engages internally and externally to advance the company’s interests, establish relationships and brand the company. Develops and implements a program of coordinated industry trade events and organizational membership.
  • Promotes employee engagement at all levels in the organization to ensure they are supportive of a common vision. Delegates portions of activities, responsibilities, and authorities as allowed in a matrix type structure. Ensures the responsibilities, authorities and accountability are defined and understood. This includes:
      • Identify technical gaps that need to be addressed by training
      • Arrange training to close the technical gaps, contribute as an instructor in AECOM’s Water Academy
      • Provide mentoring for technical staff
      • Actively engage in Technical Practice Network (Chatter, training, etc)
  • Actively supports and facilitates the AECOM culture of ethics, safety, diversity, engagement, operational excellence and initiatives throughout the corporation.
  • Ensures all activities are carried out in compliance with internal policies and practices and laws and regulations.

Perform all other position related duties as assigned or requested.

Qualifications

  • BA/BS plus EXTENSIVE years of Water Resources Leadership experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education, including 6 years of leadership
  • Experience managing P&L including revenue generation, project margin achievement, DSO, G&A, project delivery, client satisfaction, staff utilization, safety, claims resolution and quality.
  • Experience growing of a regional business and collaborating with other regions.

Additional Information

  • Offered rate of compensation will be based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. Bonus opportunities are tied to both company and individual performance and vary from year-to-year. The salary range for this position is $186,000 – $345,000. Please note that this role can be based anywhere in the United States.
