Faculty of Psychology
We invite applications for a post-doctoral position in an exciting and innovative research project exploring the physical and perceptual properties of interpersonal touch and their impact on affect and well-being. This interdisciplinary collaboration, led by Dr. Annett Schirmer (Psychology, University of Innsbruck), Dr. Francis McGlone (Neurobiology, University of Liverpool), and Dr. Gregory Gerling (Engineering, University of Virginia), aims to unravel the intricacies of touch through a multi-faceted approach (e.g., text analysis and scale development, EEG hyper-scanning, 3D visual motion tracking and neural network modeling).
Position details:
Position: Post-Doctoral Fellow
Start Date: May 1, 2024 (negotiable)
Duration: 2.5 years
Responsibilities:
- Project development and data recording
- Data pre-processing and statistical analysis
- Writing of manuscripts
- Teaching and student supervision
Qualifications:
- Ph.D. in a relevant field with a focus on data analysis (e.g., Psychology, Neuroscience, Computer science, Biomedical engineering).
- Proficiency in Python or MATLAB programming and expertise with the R statistical language.
- Strong statistical skills and the ability to translate data findings into meaningful scientific insights.
- Ability to work collaboratively in an interdisciplinary team.
- Good spoken and written English proficiency.
