Please note: This position requires the ability to work extended days, evenings and weekends as needed for events.

The major responsibilities for this position include:

Events Management

  • Plan and execute COS participation at all RIT Admissions recruitment events including open houses and virtual events. Collaborate with the COS Marketing Director and the COS leadership to create and execute programming that will encourage applications and enrollment.
  • Create and execute meaningful internal events for our faculty, staff, and students that help build community within the COS such as speaker events, holiday parties, and leadership retreats. This includes executing all logistics such as room scheduling, itinerary management, and hospitality needs.
  • Coordinate and manage all aspects of COS participation at university-wide events including but not limited to New Student Orientation and ImagineRIT. Strive to maximize event attendance and brand impression while ensuring the best experiences for key stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with the six COS academic units and maintain strong relationships with university partners across the Institute to create engaging internal and external programming.

Strategic Communications & Marketing

  • Create, edit, and manage all communications going out from the COS Dean’s Office as well as high quality marketing materials (emails, social media, posters, etc.) for all college-wide strategic initiatives and events.
  • Utilize marketing strategies in preparing communications such as establishing CTAs, effective subject lines, and engaging copy. Track engagement metrics to identify improvements for the future.
  • Coordinate promotional item selections, order fulfillment, and inventory.
  • Provide general support to the Marketing Director on strategic marketing initiatives including content edits, proofreading, thoughtful feedback, and administrative communications.

Partnerships

  • Provide guidance and support in event planning and promotion as needed to the schools, special interest groups, and student clubs within the College of Science.
  • Assist members of the Dean’s Office in support of faculty, staff, and students as needed.

The major responsibilities for this position include:

Department/College Description
The College of Science has 880 undergraduate students, 325 graduate students and 274 faculty and staff members. It delivers the required scientific and mathematical education for most of the programs offered at RIT. The College of Science houses four of RITs eight Ph.D. programs – color science, astrophysical sciences and technology, mathematical modeling and imaging science.

The College of Science offers undergraduate and graduate programs in the Chester F. Carlson Center for Imaging Science, Thomas H. Gosnell School of Life Sciences, the School of Chemistry and Materials Science, the School of Mathematical Sciences, the School of Physics and Astronomy, and the Integrated Sciences Academy. It also offers many research opportunities and programs and houses a number of research centers and laboratories that are conducting world-renowned research. In addition to its degree programs, the College delivers the required scientific and mathematical underpinnings for most of the programs offered at RIT.

Minimum Qualifications

  • 3 years of event planning or marketing experience, or related field
  • Experience planning and/or executing successful events
  • Experience working with diverse stakeholders and partners
  • Strive to maximize event attendance and brand impression while ensuring the best experiences for key stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate clearly and concisely in a timely manner.
  • Must be organized, reliable, thorough, and creative with a positive attitude.
  • Ability to initiate and lead projects in new, strategic directions.
  • Ability to problem solve, remain calm under pressure, and adjust plans quickly.
  • Ability to work and make decisions independently.
  • Willingness to work respectfully and collaboratively with colleagues and stakeholder groups.
  • Experience using technology to support key job requirements (i.e., Google Suite, Adobe Suite, Microsoft Office).
  • Must be able to manage multiple priorities and stakeholder needs at once.
  • Must be able to work occasional nights and weekends throughout the academic year.
