We’re seeking an exceptional Director of Corporate Services to join our senior management team, reporting directly to the Chief Administrative Officer.
Position Overview:
As the Director of Corporate Services, you’ll spearhead crucial managerial responsibilities overseeing Finance, Assessment, and Information Technology functions within our municipality. Your role will demand astute leadership, professional judgment, and comprehensive expertise in managerial and accounting duties. From managing office staff to ensuring financial accuracy, your proactive approach will be pivotal in our continued success.
The Ideal Candidate Will Provide:
Leadership:
- Strategically plan, organise, and oversee departmental operations with a focus on visionary and consultative leadership.
- Collaborate within the senior leadership team to drive organisational initiatives and decisions.
- Foster relationships with governmental bodies, agencies, and service providers for effective coordination and service efficiency.
- Manage resources to ensure the successful completion of identified projects and service goals.
- Act as a liaison for community groups and lead complex initiatives.
Financial Management & Planning:
- Coordinate the municipal budget process and manage taxation, property assessment, and reserve funds.
- Oversee financial activities, including budgeting, accounting, and reporting, ensuring compliance with accounting principles and practices.
- Manage grants, financial policies, risk management, and insurance functions.
Policy Development & Administration:
- Develop administrative policies, plans, procedures, and bylaws in alignment with legislation and organisational goals.
- Interpret statutory documents and respond to public inquiries.
- Monitor legislative changes and ensure organisational compliance.
Governance Support:
- Align departmental objectives with Council’s Strategic Plan.
- Provide support, advisement, and representation at Council meetings and finance related public hearings.
- Collaborate with the CAO and other departments to achieve organisational goals.
Qualifications:
- Post-Secondary Degree in Business Administration, Commerce, Public Administration, or related discipline.
- CPA designation preferred and considered a significant asset; minimum 8 years of progressive management experience.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, AS/400 Computer system operations, and financial management.
