Birkbeck is looking for a Research Culture Training Manager to develop our institutional research culture.
This post is funded by a Research Culture grant from the Wellcome Trust to provide tailored support Birkbeck to enhance its research culture so that academic and research staff from historically excluded communities, including those returning from a career break and at all levels of the career path, are empowered to further their careers in health and health-related research.
The Research Culture Training Manager will identify and address training needs to support inclusivity, diversity and anti-discrimination practices across our training portfolio, both in terms of updating existing training and identifying and developing resources to fill identified training gaps. The work includes a focus on Line managers, sta involved in recruitment, mentors and supervisors as well as junior staff to boost Birkbeck’s organisational wellbeing.
In this role you will ensure all aspects of our training address questions of inclusivity effectively, supporting our researchers to understand the value of a diverse, inclusive academic workforce and so support the development of an institutional infrastructure where inclusive and diverse research cultures can thrive.
You will develop College-wide training and development through the design, delivery, and evaluation of new provision and updating existing programmes, leading on delivery and providing specialist recommendations and guidance to the College for developing and enhancing training and support.
You will also support the development and embedding of frameworks to monitor and support the professional development of staff and students in specific areas and regularly liaise with our historically excluded communities to support them in their engagement with the institution.
To succeed in this role you need to have a solid understanding of how to effectively support the career development of researchers; and you’ll be educated to degree level or have equivalent experience.
Remuneration
£42,365 rising to £48,424 per annum, Grade 7 of the College’s London Pay Scale.

The salary quoted is on the College’s London Pay Scale which includes a consolidated Weighting/Allowance which applies only to staff whose normal contractual place of work is in the London area.
