Job Summary:
The Office of the Vice Chancellor for Research (OVCR) provides oversight of much of UW’s broad research enterprise, and is responsible for an array of multidisciplinary research centers and institutes, research policies, and federal, state, and institutional compliances. This includes evaluating conflict of interest, human subjects, animal welfare, and responsible conduct of research and negotiation of industry contracts.
The OVCR-IT team creates and maintains information systems that are critical to the administration and management of the research enterprise. Users of these systems include, but are not limited to:
- Researchers: including faculty, postdocs, staff, and students who need to comply with federal, state, and university policies pertaining to research
- Administrative staff who help faculty members stay on top of their obligations
- Human resources staff who facilitate staffing, benefits, and compensation
- University leadership teams that administer competitions for internal grant funding

The UW-Madison campus is comprised of over 900 acres of picturesque grounds located on the shores of Lake Mendota. The campus is bounded on the east and south by the City of Madison and on the west by the village of Shorewood Hills. The location of the campus, the need to develop within the existing campus boundaries, the desire to preserve open space and the numbers of people accessing the campus on a daily basis contribute to this being one of the more complex transportation/parking systems in the Midwest. The campus has over 19.5 million gross square feet of building space and offers a broad array of undergraduate, graduate, professional, research and advanced academic programs. Education:
Preferred

Consideration will be given to candidates with a degree in another field who have relevant work experience in software development.
Qualifications:
Preferred work experiences and technologies
- Microsoft .NET (C#, ASP.NET, Visual Studio, .NET Core).
- Relevant web technologies (HTML, CSS, JavaScript, JQuery, VUE.js, JSON)
- API development/documentation platforms (Postman, Swagger, Apigee, Informatica)
- Oracle / SQL
- .NET integration with Oracle backend
- Docker and/or other deployment/automation tools.
- Git/GitLab
Other skills and experiences
- Clear and effective communication, both verbally and in writing, to a wide array of professional backgrounds.
- Attention to detail and excellent organizational skills.
- Ability to develop collaboratively, working with other developers and stakeholders.
- Project management, business analysis, and/or technical documentation.
Work Type:
Full Time: 100%
This position will require some work to be performed in-person, onsite, at a designated campus work location. Some work may be performed remotely, at an offsite, non-campus work location.
Appointment Type, Duration:
Terminal, 16 month appointment.
This position has the possibility to be extended or converted to an ongoing appointment based on need and/or funding
Salary:
Minimum $60,000 Maximum $91,000 ANNUAL (12 months)

Additional Information:
This position is expected to be terminal/finite with the possibility to convert to ongoing/renewable. The end date is dependent upon need and/or funding.
