Job Description:

UF/IFAS
Communications is recruiting for a talented designer to produce illustrations and graphical elements, design and prepare layouts for all
types of print and digital displays for UF/IFAS in a fast-paced, high-volume, environment using Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, and InDesign.

Responsible for designing original art, drawings, and graphics materials using computers or other media for UF/IFAS publications,
reports, stationery, marketing materials, special projects, multimedia presentations/publications, graphical elements, exhibits, banners,
proposals, etc.

Prepares work to be accomplished by gathering information and materials. Develops concept by reviewing information
and materials provided by clients. In collaboration with faculty and staff, determines the type of graphics and printed pieces best suited
for projects.

Illustrates original graphics and concepts by designing rough layout of art and copy regarding arrangement, size, type
size and style, and related aesthetic concepts. Obtains approval of concept through and electronic proofing process. Prepares finished
layouts by utilizing the latest graphics software available. Completes projects by working with outside print vendors on behalf of the
client.

Ensures all layouts for print and multimedia follow UF/IFAS Brand Guidelines while being inventive and imaginative in
developing original and creative documents. Advises clients on effective visual communications and use of UF/IFAS Branding Guidelines.

Write bid specifications for print publications and work with vendors to assure the timely completion of projects and proper billing
procedures are followed. Works within a set print budget provided by clients for printed materials. Works directly with fiscal unit staff to
ensure that proper fiscal policies are followed for all purchases.

Contributes to team effort by constructively critiquing other
in-house graphic designers’ work.

Maintain files and records of graphic designs.

Expected Salary:

$17.00 -
$20.00/hr; commensurate with education and experience.

Minimum Requirements:

A bachelor’s degree in an appropriate area of
specialization or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

Employee should be
proficient in the latest versions of InDesign, Illustrator, Acrobat, Photoshop, Outlook, Microsoft Word, and PowerPoint.

Experience
creating ADA-compliant PDFs using InDesign and Acrobat preferred. Knowledge of layouts, graphic fundamentals and typography; should have the
ability to illustrate and translate ideas to designers and develop innovative graphics solutions for both print and digital.

  • Intermediate knowledge of commercial printing
