Job Description
The Technical Writer at Western Digital’s Flash Division will collaborate closely with the marketing team to produce clear and compelling documentation of our innovative products and technologies. This role will play a pivotal role in ensuring that technical content is aligned with marketing strategies, effectively conveying the features and benefits of Western Digital’s products to a diverse consumer base worldwide.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Develop and maintain comprehensive documentation for consumer electronics products, ensuring clarity and accessibility for a global audience.
- Work closely with development teams, engineers, and product managers to gather information and ensure accuracy in technical documentation.
- Structure and organize technical content, providing information in a format that is easily understandable to diverse audiences.
- Collaborate on creating marketing collateral, incorporating technical details to support product positioning and promotional efforts.
- Regularly review and update existing documentation to reflect changes in hardware specifications, software features, and system integrations.
- Ensure documentation adheres to industry standards, follows company style guides, and is error-free.
- Create user-friendly manuals, quick-start guides, and FAQs that enhance the consumer experience and reflect Western Digital’s brand identity.
- Collaborate with designers and illustrators to incorporate visuals, diagrams, and screenshots into technical documentation.
Qualifications
REQUIRED:
- Bachelor’s degree in Technical Writing, Computer Science, or a related field.
- 5+ years of proven experience as a Technical Writer, with a strong portfolio.
SKILLS:
- Solid understanding of consumer electronics products and the ability to convey technical information in a consumer-friendly manner.
- Excellent writing and editing skills, with the ability to adapt content for various consumer audiences and marketing channels.
- Strong collaboration and communication skills to work effectively with cross-functional marketing and product development teams.
- Ability to adapt to evolving product specifications, features, and marketing strategies.
- Strong organizational skills to manage multiple documentation projects simultaneously and meet deadlines.
