We are seeking a talented and motivated Senior Reporter to join the Benzinga team, specializing in coverage of publicly traded mining companies. The ideal candidate will have a passion for business journalism, a keen interest in the mining industry, and a proven ability to deliver compelling stories that resonate with a diverse audience.
As a Senior Reporter, you will have a direct hand in creating content seen by millions of readers and impacting the industry as a whole. If you know how to get pageviews and are enthusiastic about trying new things to engage readers, we want to talk to you.
What you’ll be doing:
- Research and Reporting: Investigate and report on news, trends, and developments within publicly traded mining companies, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and relevance. Topics of interest include earnings, M&A, IPOs, and general interest.
- Interviews: Conduct interviews with industry experts, company executives, and other stakeholders to uncover and publish exclusive and unique commentary on stocks and news items.
- Story Development: Develop original story ideas and pitches that align with market interests and audience preferences.
- Market Analysis: Monitor and analyze financial data, market trends, and regulatory developments affecting the mining industry.
- Deadline Management: Meet tight deadlines while maintaining a high standard of reporting.
- Collaboration: Collaborate with editors, fellow reporters, and other team members to enhance the overall quality and depth of our coverage.
- Traffic Analytics: Utilize traffic analytics to make informed decisions about news coverage and feature content.
- Driving traffic to Benzinga.com.
The experience you need:
- Proven experience in business or financial reporting, with a focus on publicly traded companies.
- Understanding of the mining industry, including knowledge of key players, market dynamics, and regulatory frameworks.
- Strong research and analytical skills, with the ability to translate complex financial data into engaging, accessible content.
- Passion for trading stocks and the markets.
- Ability to produce long and short form content.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
- Familiarity with digital media platforms and trends.
