What we want
The Communications Manager, under direction, manages communications internally and externally. Reviews and edits written materials, prepares presentations, and communicates with employees. Communicates with the media and other interested parties to announce new products and discuss organizational changes that maintain a positive image of the Institute of Biosciences and Technology.

Required Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in applicable field or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Five years of related work experience in marketing and communications, including two years supervisory experience.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Ability to multitask and work cooperatively with others.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience working with scientific or medical professionals.
Responsibilities:
- Communication- Creates messaging to communicate priorities and impacts for internal and external constituents, elected officials, stakeholders, employees. Develops lay public communications for Institute programs to support their marketing efforts. Serves as a member of executive communications group, oversees website content, maintenance, and social media strategy. Manages communications internally and externally. Reviews and edits written materials, prepares presentations, and communicates with employees. Communicates with the media and other interested parties to announce new products and discuss organizational changes that maintain a positive image of the Institute of Biosciences and Technology.
- Strategic Planning- Creates, develops and implements a strategic marketing/communications plan for the agency in conjunction with Institute leadership and marketing team. Evaluates existing marketing and promotional strategies and provides input into improving overall effectiveness of those strategies.
- Promotional/Marketing- Manages marketing material in support of Institute and Center marketing plans including the design and development of print advertising and promotional items and works with other media outlets for successful promotion of Institute and Center services. Ensures compliance with the Texas A&M University System (TAMUS) and Health Science Center (HSC) member requirements as they relate to marketing and promotion of the member. Manages the marketing Center’s presentation library and marketing materials. Identifies mechanisms for promoting member programs and services. Assists committees and operating areas in developing marketing strategies for programs, services, and engagement. Oversees the drafting, editing, and scheduling of select marketing communications for media placement in a variety of channels (i.e., web, print, email, online).
- Budget- Prepares the Institute’s marketing/communications budget and monitors income and expenses during the year. May supervise and mentor Institute staff. Performs other duties as assigned.
