Requirements:
Languages: Candidates must have knowledge of the English Language
Education: Candidates should have successful completion of an approved/recognized Physiotherapist Assistant or Rehabilitation Assistant Program
Experience: Candidates should have considerable experience in the relevant field
Physical Requirements:
- The candidates should be able to regularly lift or move objects less than 10 lbs., up to 25 lbs., and lift and move patients, limbs (or may utilize a mechanical lift) for exercises
- The candidates should have the ability to regularly handle materials physically for the set up and running of activities
- The candidates should regularly stand or walk for extended periods and occasionally required to drive to clients’ homes or community buildings to assist with therapy or to facilitate activities
- The candidates should be able to regularly assume a variety of body postures, including working in awkward or cramped positions, bending, kneeling, and stretching, and sometimes require strength and endurance
- The candidates should occasionally operate machinery, equipment, and hand tools that require controlled fine finger work and precision, with visual and auditory concentration
Other Requirements:
- The candidates should demonstrate the ability to work collaboratively with others to meet patient goals and the overall delivery of Physiotherapy services
- The candidates should possess the ability to utilize clinical judgment, problem-solving, and decision-making skills
- The candidates should have a satisfactory record of work performance
Responsibilities:
- The candidates should be able to work in collaboration with, and under the clinical direction and supervision of Physiotherapists to provide Physiotherapy Services to patients
- The candidates should be able to prepare the patient, treatment area, and equipment for the Clinical Physiotherapist and prepare, apply, and remove modalities as per Clinical Physiotherapist direction
- The candidates should be able to apply and remove braces, splints, prosthesis as directed by the Clinical Physiotherapist and able to perform other related duties
- The candidates should be able to assist clients in reaching functional goals by carrying out delegated therapeutic work in the treatment of persons with movement dysfunctions resulting from illness, injury, or other disability
- The candidates should be able to precept physiotherapy support worker students and offer other clinical education experiences to students within Eastern Health
- The candidates should be able to maintains accountability to the division manager of the assigned service, the Clinical Physiotherapists and Regional Professional Practice Consultant for professional integrity and practice issues
