Requirements:

Languages: Candidates must have knowledge of the English Language
Education: Candidates should have educational qualifications such as a a graduate degree
Experience: Candidates should have 10 years of progressive, relevant experience, including formal leadership and supervisory experience

Other Requirements:

  • The candidates should possess a strong understanding and technical knowledge of performance measurement, reporting, benchmarking, and ESG standards
  • The candidates should have experience of corporate and business unit performance measurement and reporting and extensive management experience in a dynamic, fast-paced environment
  • The candidates should demonstrate exceptional interpersonal skills, with an established record of collaboration across diverse partner groups and excel in strategic, critical thinking, and creative problem-solving skills
  • The candidates should exhibit a proven ability to deal with organizational dynamics and politics effectively in large, complex organizations, with an understanding of the complexities of decision-making in the public sector
  • The candidates should have experience in preparing, or overseeing the preparation of, high-quality reports and presentations for senior executives and/or the public and have equivalent combinations of experience and education

Responsibilities:

  • The candidates should be able to drive organization-wide excellence, equity, and innovation in performance measurement, benchmarking, and performance reporting and provide leadership and direction to high-profile cross-corporate work to improve service value for Calgarians and advance the One City, One Voice culture
  • The candidates should be able to enhance partnerships and build key networks across The City to strengthen alignment between related functions and deliver regular performance reporting to Council and Calgarians, Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) reporting, and implementation of Results-Based Accountability (RBA)
  • The candidates should be able to develop and deliver a performance measurement and benchmarking strategy and work with partners across the organization to advance areas of priority for senior leadership and Council
  • The candidates should be able to seek out emerging practices in reporting and use their expertise to advance a modernized and innovative approach, including a significant online presence for Calgarians to access regular performance data
  • The candidates should be able to lead, develop, and supervise a team of professional staff and work closely with senior leaders, including General Managers and Directors, on controversial issues, gaining their confidence in approaches and their support for recommendations
  • The candidates should be able to prepare, or oversee the preparation of, high-quality reports and presentations for Council and senior executive committees and coordinate contributions from every part of the organization, using consensus-based decision-making to ensure the achievement of key deliverables
  • The candidates should be able to evaluate and continually improve the team’s approach to ensure its ongoing effectiveness and contribute to the overall direction and coordination of the Business Unit as part of the leadership team
