Description

The Director of Marketing and University Relations reports to the
Vice President for Advancement and is responsible for leading and supporting the communication and marketing strategies and public relations
activities for Glenville State University. The Director oversees marketing, communications, and University relations activities that promote
and grow the Glenville State University brand in addition to promoting academic programs, alumni events and activities, and the institution
as a whole. The Director leads two full-time professional communications/marketing staff members, one full-time in-house print shop manager,
and one full-time in-house streaming media services manager.

Examples of Duties

  • Oversee the
    Glenville State University brand and build upon it.
  • Develop, implement, and frequently evaluate a marketing and communications
    plan.
  • Collaborate with the Creative Director for the appropriate and effective use of social media.
  • Develop and share
    noteworthy campus news content with media outlets and act as the main point of contact with the news media.
  • Collaborate with the
    Office of Admissions to develop and maintain recruitment documents, digital collateral, and other outreach materials.
  • Develop,
    evaluate, and maintain an effective multichannel advertising strategy for the University.
  • Work with IT-based Webmaster to oversee
    the University’s website.
  • Conduct research of competitors to ensure appropriate positioning and marketing.
  • Manage and
    execute the Marketing and Public Relations budget.
  • Supervise and evaluate professional staff.
  • Perform other duties as
    assigned.

Typical Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in marketing, communications, public
    relations, or related field required.
  • Master’s degree in marketing, communications, or related field preferred.
  • Minimum 5-7
    years of job-related experience (marketing, communications, public relations, news media, etc.); higher education experience a
    plus.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Experience with integrated marketing and
    communications.
  • Understanding of various marketing channels (print, digital, social, etc.)
  • Ability to manage programs,
    projects, and team members.
  • Ability to solve problems and work with others.
