Job Description


Under the direction of the Chief Administrative Officer, receive guidance from and collaborate with the Communications Specialist to closely support the priorities of the ADRC director and two department chairs. In partnership with Public Affairs and Marketing, implement communications and media programs based upon strategies developed by Public Affairs and Marketing and/or department leadership for the ADRC and Departments of Neurology and Neurological Surgery.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Marketing, Communications, Design and/or related subjects, and/or equivalent education and experience
  • Experience implementing basic marketing plans with goals, tasks, jobs, and deadlines.
  • Experience utilizing analytics and data to improve marketing strategies.
  • Experience working independently and establishing priorities to meet multiple deadlines, organize work?ow and work with minimal general direction.
  • Experience with MS Office Suite and website content management systems.
  • Knowledge of and experience implementing marketing communications principles, practices and trends
  • Experience researching media trends and competitor activity.
  • Demonstrated ability to oversee production of and provide creative direction for promotional videos and design of posters, publications, ads, etc.
  • Demonstrated outstanding communication skills, including the ability to communicate effectively and positively with foreign clients including present students, alumni, faculty, etc. to achieve marketing goals, and including skills to communicate with persons with limited English ability and to conduct interviews and convey instructions, directions, and information appropriately.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience implementing digital marketing and communications strategies, including audience targeting/segmenting.
  • Skills to proof and update promotional and educational slide presentations.
  • Demonstrated skills to design flyers, publications, etc., including demonstrated design skills using Canva, Adobe CS or similar industry standard programs.
  • Knowledge of UC, UC Davis and UC Davis School of Medicine mission, priorities and programs as well as campus business systems and practices.

Department Description

The Department of Neurology conducts basic and clinical research on the nervous system and provides clinical care for people with neurological disorders, such as Alzheimer’s disease and other forms of dementia, epilepsy, movement disorders like Parkinson’s and Huntington’s diseases, tremor, dystonia, multiple sclerosis, neuromuscular conditions, headache and sleep disorders.

Our faculty includes leading neuroscientists, who work to expand our knowledge of nervous system function, as well as neurologists and psychologists who provide diagnosis and treatment for adults and children. We partner with colleagues from throughout the health system and work closely with the Department of Neurological Surgery to provide multidisciplinary team management for neurological disorders. We also offer cutting-edge diagnostic approaches, including advanced neuroimaging technologies and access to trials of new medications and other therapeutic modalities.
