Job Description
This position will serve as the Website Developer for the Dietrich School of Arts and Sciences and will report to
the Web Communications Manager.
The Web Developer is responsible for assisting with the maintenance and enhancement of internet
applications and websites for the Dietrich School’s offices, departments, programs, and centers. The Developer works with members of the
Dietrich School communications team, the University’s web team, and Pitt IT to utilize website templates and the content management system
(CMS) Drupal to migrate and edit content as required by clients to ensure and develop the highest quality, consistency, and effectiveness of
all school websites. The candidate must be able to work well with individuals at all levels of the organization, respond to client feedback,
and relate to them with respect, courtesy, and professionalism.
The candidate must be able to manage multiple projects and
assignments and prioritize.
Job Summary
Writes and edits web content. Completes web application
programming, back-end site development, and maintenance of the content management system (CMS). Monitors projects, employees, users, and
approval processes. Provides technical support and collaborates with vendors. Analyzes site traffic statistics and enhances search engine
optimization (SEO) and marketing. Designs and programs templates and writes web content.
Essential Functions
- Must be able to
manage website content using Drupal CMS, including migrating content, creating pages within a branded template, implementing
video/photography assets. - Must be able to manage multiple priorities in a systematic and well-organized fashion.
- Must be an
effective project leader, able to consistently deliver highest quality results on time and within budget. - Must provide reliable,
friendly, and highest quality customer service to clients throughout the Dietrich School. - Must be able to identify and utilize
appropriate resources throughout and beyond the University to ensure that projects are completed most effectively and most
efficiently.
Physical Effort
Minimal. Candidate should be able to transport a laptop across campus.
