Primary Purpose of Position
Directly responsible for developing, implementing and maintaining technical support for the university website.
Directly responsible for logistics related to top-level web communications.
Directly responsible for emergency operations web communications. Strategic consultant for top-level user experience.
Directly responsible for management of university web presence and web access.
Directly responsible for interaction design for web.
Directly responsible for information architecture, assessment, evaluation and statistical tracking related to top-level web development and functionality.
Manages projects related to web/electronic communications.
Directly responsible for logistics for web/electronic communications, and emergency operations web communications. Provides social media monitoring for critical/crisis communications
Job Description

This position requires a diverse combination of design talent, technical expertise in web design and development, and critical/crisis communication skills. The person in this position is expected to generate creative ideas, and be passionate about telling the stories of a fast-growing university. A high level of organizational sensitivity is required, and evening and weekend work is routinely needed. Familiarity with the university and its culture is expected. A premium is placed on an ability to perform as a highly functional member of a team that is held to high expectations for quality, works quickly and on deadline, and produces highly professional, accurate, timely content on a consistent basis.
Responsible for the development and maintenance of the institution’s website; building modern websites and user interfaces; theming code to match design direction and branding (via HTML, CSS, JS); front-end theming in Twig/HTML/JS/CSS; site building and site configuration within a content management system; maintain web applications in a cloud-hosted environment including security and technology updates; design and development of websites to meet campus needs; meet with non-technical peers to define and gather requirements for web projects; document application systems and procedures; provide WIC training quarterly and as needed; periodically review analytics, provide reports to management and make recommendations based on data presented; deploying emergency communication platforms as needed.
This position is Mandatory Personnel: Employees whose presence has been determined to be mandatory to University operations during certain types of adverse weather or emergency events.
Management Preference
Bachelor’s degree (B.S.) in Information Technology, Computer Science, Web Development, Digital Media, Web Graphic Design, Computer Programming, or similar from a four-year college or university or equivalent combination of education and experience. Experience in Drupal is a plus but not required. WordPress experience is preferred. Experience managing Drupal to WordPress transitions is preferred.
