The Faculty of Law/Te Kaupeka Tātai Ture is seeking to appoint a Lecturer, Senior Lecturer or Associate Professor in our compulsory Property Law course with a special emphasis on trusts and equity.

Otago was the first University to teach Law in Aotearoa New Zealand, beginning in 1873. The Faculty has a long history of excellence and is a leader in legal research in New Zealand, with strong links to international research networks. Otago’s legal research community consists of top-quality academics and postgraduate students from New Zealand and overseas, with a strong record of publications.

Te mahi/The role

The Faculty of Law/Te Kaupeka Tātai Ture is seeking a highly motivated, suitably qualified candidate committed to excellence in delivering high quality research informed teaching. The successful candidate will be expected to contribute to the compulsory property law curriculum and to deliver elective courses in related topics. As well as having a strong commitment to producing high quality scholarship.

This is a unique opportunity for a creative, and committed scholar to make a significant contribution within their chosen discipline while being well supported by a collegial and dynamic Faculty and University.

Kā pūkeka me kā wheako/Your skills and experience

Successful candidates will have a postgraduate law degree or equivalent experience and publications. The faculty particularly welcomes applications from Māori and Pasifika scholars.

This is a permanent, full-time (1.0 FTE) position, located in Dunedin.

The appointment range for this position is:

  • Lecturer – $94,084 to $111,056
  • Senior Lecturer – $116,419 to $143,018
  • Associate Professor – $148,699 to $162,838
