Requirements:
Languages: Candidates must have knowledge of the English Language
Education: Candidates don’t need standard educational qualifications
Experience: Candidates don’t need experience although having experience is an asset
Physical Requirements:
- The candidates should possess or have the ability to obtain a valid CPR and Emergency First Aid certificate
- The candidates should possess or have the ability to obtain a valid Limited Sub Water Systems certificate
- The candidates should possess or have the ability to obtain an Ontario Boating license
- The candidates should have the ability to work shifts, weekends, and statutory holidays as per the schedule
Other Requirements:
- The candidates should have a valid class ‘G’ driver’s license or an equivalent, as recognized by the Province of Ontario. The offer of employment is conditional upon the successful candidate providing proof that they have a valid driver’s license upon being hired
- The candidates should possess knowledge of operating standards for the maintenance and sanitation of general building facilities and utility maintenance
- The candidates should be knowledgeable about the operation and maintenance of powered equipment such as lawnmowers, chainsaws, and small hand tools
- The candidates should have knowledge of and the ability to apply and interpret relevant regulations, acts, policies, and procedures (i.e., Occupational Health and Safety Act and Regulations, etc.)
- The candidates should possess demonstrated communication skills to provide information and direction to staff and colleagues
- The candidates should have interpersonal and customer service skills to deal with clients, staff, and park visitors
- The candidates should have organizational skills and a proven ability to complete projects within acceptable timeframes and deal with competing demands
- The candidates should demonstrate an ability to work with minimal supervision and as part of a team
Responsibilities:
- The candidates should be able to provide general groundskeeper and grounds maintenance services
- The candidates should be able to perform minor repair and maintenance to buildings/utilities
- The candidates should be able to provide garbage collection and general facility maintenance/sanitation
- The candidates should be able to operate and repair a variety of heavy and light powered equipment such as a tractor with attachments, riding lawn mowers, chain saws, and hand tools
- The candidates should be able to carry out facility inspections for security and damage assessment
- The candidates should be able to promote compliance with park rules and regulations
- The candidates should be able to provide information and direction to staff and colleagues
- The candidates should be able to advise, report, and record problems, violations, and complaints
