An exciting opportunity has arisen to join a vibrant research laboratory within the School of Health and Life Sciences (HLS) – Aston Medical School under the supervision of Dr Lissette Sanchez-Aranguren.

The research fellowship will be focused on developing a novel nanoparticle-mediated drug delivery system targeting specific cellular organelles, having the required support, guidance, and mentoring to embark on a research project aiming to bring together concepts from synthetic biology and the biosciences with the purpose of elucidating the potential of these novel delivery systems to modulate biological scenarios.

You will regularly meet and liaise with colleagues to ensure appropriate input, data sharing, and effective dissemination of results. You will also be expected to draft and submit high-quality papers, technical reports and contribute to grant funding applications to sustain continuous research within Dr Sanchez-Aranguren’s group funding.

You will have experience in the design, characterisation and biochemical detection of functionalized nanoparticles (particularly, liposomes) with a focus on translational medicine with the view to deliver metabolic drug/compounds with a patient-friendly approach efficiently. You will be appointed as a Grade 8 if you have been awarded your PhD.
