7 Postdoc Positions at Kiel University, Germany

The call is open until March 31, 2024

The open-topic call invites submission of project ideas from Postdoctoral Researchers who

  • Are interested in developing their own research profile and in forming a clear idea about their future career perspectives in the academic or non-academic sectors
  • Are ready to commit themselves to an extensive training programme in research and career development including two secondments and summer schools

Your project should be linked to research conducted within one of the four Priority Research Areas (PRAs) at Kiel University

  • Kiel Life Science (KLS)
  • Kiel Marine Science (KMS)
  • Kiel Nano, Surface and Interface Science (KiNSIS)
  • Societal, Environmental and Cultural Change (SECC)

We offer: A 36-month full-time employment contract with full social security coverage as well as a monthly research allowance of €500 to advance your own research agenda. Following MSCA standards, the annual pay package, which includes all mandatory employer’s and employee’s tax and social security contributions, will be €67,000 / €75,000 depending on personal circumstances

Who can apply: Excellent postdoctoral researchers of any nationality who at the deadline of the KiTE call have no more than four years of research experience after completing their doctorate, and who comply with the MCSA mobility rule*

*Candidates may not have resided or carried out their main activity in Germany for more than 12 months in the three years before the closing date of the call

How to apply: Candidates have to identify potential mentors willing to host their project who must be contacted ahead of proposal submission. Only proposals with a prospective mentor’s written commitment will be considered. Selection procedure: Two step merit-based, gender-fair and transparent online selection procedure. Step 1: External peer review of the written proposals; Step 2: Project presentation and interview. Evaluation criteria: Excellence of the applicant and the proposed project (50 %), impact of the project (30 %) and quality and efficiency of the implementation (20 %)
