Job Summary

More specifically, you’ll be driving engagement among the Business School’s global alumni community of more than 30,000 graduates spread across more than 100 countries. These alumni form part of Imperial College London’s 250,000 international alumni community of outstanding business leaders, scientists, engineers and medical professionals. Duties and responsibilities 

In brief, you’ll be the Alumni Relations communications expert leading on all stakeholder engagement activity.  But don’t worry, you will be part of a highly collaborative Alumni Relations team and will also work closely with the Business School’s Institutional Marketing and Communications team to share best practices, and leverage existing digital content from sources such as IB Knowledge.  

You will also have ownership of our digital mentorship platform – IB Connect for Alumni and will support other high-profile initiatives such as engaging the alumni community in volunteering their time and talent to support the Business School’s strategic goals. 

More generally, you’ll have global responsibility for the development and implementation of all aspects of communicationsforImperialCollegeBusinessSchool’sAlumniRelationsteam. 

The role will help mobilise alumni to engage with and support the Business School and proactively build a robust, engaged alumni network which inspires affinity with Imperial. 

You will also participate in a broad range of exciting events hosted for alumni throughout the year, working with inspiring people and meeting a variety of interesting alumni who are making a difference in their industries including launching new ventures that aim to tackle some of the world’s most pressing challenges.

Essential requirements

  • Degree level education or equivalent relevant communications experience
  • Experience of developing, implementing, and advising on marketing communications strategies to successfully achieve agreed objectives
  • Experience of briefing and managing relationships with external suppliers
  • Experience of writing and editing copy for different target audiences using a variety of media (including print publications, e- newsletters and websites)
  • Experience of providing an excellent customer-focused service
  • An understanding of best practice in digital communication, including websites, email marketing, and social media among others
  • Demonstrated computer competency with an excellent understanding of Microsoft Office packages, email marketing software and the ability to learn new software systems quickly
  • Excellent relationship development, communication and listening skills with the ability to build strong working relationships with colleagues and clients at all levels of the organization, including senior leadership, high profile volunteers and alumni
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, a high level of organisation and very strong attention to detail
  • Ability to analyse and synthesise complex and technical information and communicate it effectively to target audiences
  • An understanding of best practice in digital communication, including websites, e- marketing and social media
  • Strong organisational and project management skills, with the ability to manage projects over a period of time, delivering agreed outcomes to deadline and within budget
  • Ability to work as a team and to support colleagues as required, whilst also able to work on one’s own and to take initiative
  • Creative and practical, with the ability to turn good ideas into action and deliver against agreed objectives

Further Information

The contract is full time and open-ended.

The College’s work location framework allows for some flexibility in work location / hybrid working.
