Job Description Aquatic Leader II

The City of Port Moody is seeking enthusiastic, energetic individuals to help organize instructional and recreational aquatic programs and to provide supervision, lifeguarding, scheduling, and swim instructor support and lesson supervision at one of our outdoor facilities, until September 2024.

These key positions will work with an aquatic team to provide exceptional guarding and instruction services to the patrons of Port Moody’s outdoor pools. The successful candidates will bring strong lifeguard and supervisory skills and must commit to working some daytime shifts as well as evenings and weekends in June and approximately 32 hours per week including evenings and weekends in July and August, through to Labour Day.

Successful candidates will be assigned shifts based on operational need and availability and will include weekends and evenings and may adjust throughout the summer. 

Current certifications must accompany your resume. Participation in mandatory pre-season in-service training day on June 8 or 9, 2024 (TBD) is required.

Please note that employment with the City of Port Moody is subject to the receipt of a satisfactory police information check and a satisfactory driver’s abstract.

Required Qualifications:

  • Minimum 6 months related experience, to include supervision of staff, and computer and cash handling; 
  • National Lifesaving Award, (NL, Pool Option); 
  • Lifesaving Society Instructor Course or Transition Course (for those who previously held a WSI certificate); 
  • Standard First Aid Certificate; 
  • CPR C Valid within 1 year; 
  • Grade 12 completion; 
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills.
