Summary: The Department of Communication Disorders in the College of Health, Education, and Social Transformation
invites applications for a nine-month, tenure-track position as Associate Professor/Graduate Program Director with an anticipated start date
of August 2024.
The Communication Disorders department at NMSU offers a diverse, dynamic and welcoming learning and working environment.
Faculty within the department are expected to carry a 2/2 teaching load, engage in research, and provide service to the department, college
and university.

Classification
Summary:
Faculty members in the Department of Communication Disorders engage in research in their area of expertise and prepare
future clinicians in our residential graduate M.A. program in Speech-Language Pathology and in our residential and online undergraduate
programs in Communication Disorders.

Classification Standard Duties:
Standard duties for academic-year (9-month)
faculty include maintaining a strong research program; teaching two courses per semester, mentoring undergraduate and graduate students,
assist with maintaining departmental compliance with accrediting agencies; and providing service to the Department, the College, and the
University.

Required Education, Experience, Certification/License, Equivalency
The successful candidate is
expected to hold a Ph.D. in Speech and Hearing Sciences, Communication Sciences and Disorders, or a closely-related field. Candidates must
show evidence of an active research program and publication record commensurate with the level of Associate Professor as well as a record of
successful teaching at the undergraduate and graduate level.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
The Department of
Communication Disorders is looking for a faculty with research and teaching interests that include but are not limited to: Dysphagia, Voice
Disorders, AAC, and Fluency Disorders. The Certificate of Clinical Competence from the American Speech Language Hearing Association is
desired but not required. Leadership and administrative experience and familiarity with CAA accreditation standards or willingness to obtain
these skills is highly desired.
