The role 

NU London wishes to appoint an Assistant/Associate Professor in Law (Teaching & Research). You will teach in core and optional modules in the law faculty and play a key role in the faculty and University life to support the intellectual mission and strategic vision of the University. 

We wish to appoint a specialist in private law subjects. Preference may be given to candidates with active interests in the relationship of law and digital innovation, including digital, online, and technology law. You would also have active interests in one or more of the following areas: data and/or technology; experiential learning; diversity, equity, and inclusion. Experience of US higher education institutions would be an advantage, given the integration of the US and UK degrees offered by the University. 

Core duties will include: contributing to curriculum development (UG and, possibly, PG) at  discipline, programme, or module level; delivery core and optional law modules as part of our qualifying LLB degree; development of a scholarship portfolio to support a research-led approach to teaching; conduct research of high-impact and world-leading quality, in alignment with the University REF strategic plan; fulfilling administrative tasks and/or leadership roles and responsibilities as required.

Person Specification

To excel in this role, you will have the following skills and experience, or transferable skills. 

  • PhD completed, or near completion (all but dissertation), or equivalent professional experience, in a relevant area.
  • FHEA status, or equivalent, achieved or expected.
  • Can demonstrate, through evidence, excellent ability as to be adaptable, innovative, and inclusive in the role as advertised with regards to teaching, service, and research.
  • Ability to develop excellent educational provision in areas with significant appeal to students, including at postgraduate level.

We are hoping to move to a timetable where Wednesday afternoon’s are available for student clubs/ activities and staff CPD.
