Job Description

Work+ ensures student employment is an
integrated working and learning experience that contributes to working learner career growth. By providing comprehensive supervisor support,
a thorough evaluation and assessment strategy, and fostering a vibrant community around work and learning, student jobs are modified into
transformative learning experiences.

Work+ is currently hiring an Assistant Director to provide support for all initiatives currently
in progress. This includes work directly supporting the scaling of Work+ to all 12,000+ student employees at ASU, as well as, The Work+
Collective (a national initiative engaging multiple universities as they redesign their student employment experiences). Under the direct
supervision of the Program Director of Work+, the Assistant Director will coordinate and direct the activities and functions of the Work+
office. This position will independently ensure that Work+ goals and objectives are accomplished in accordance with priorities, time
limitations, funding limitations, or other specifications.

Salary Range

$62,500 – $65,000 per year; DOE

Essential Duties

  • Provides general support and
    work closely with the Program Director on the continued maintenance and growth of Work+ both at ASU and nationally (The Work+
    Collective).
  • Manages the assessment of the effectiveness of Work+ to establish and execute its goals and objectives, encompassing:
    enhanced approaches for service delivery, formulation and execution of assessment methodologies, examination of findings, and the adoption
    of appropriate measures in response to outcomes.
  • Oversees Work+ at ASU communication development, implementation and brand
    alignment. 
  • Leads digital content development and updating of the Work+ at ASU website and the Work+ Collective
    website. 
  • Supervises and evaluates professional staff and student employees.
  • Interacts and maintains liaison with
    students, faculty, staff and outside/community agencies in facilitating Work+ objectives. 
  • Supports all activities related to
    scaling Work+ at ASU. This includes facilitation of design-thinking based activities and experiences, feedback sessions and other convenings
    designed to gather necessary information to best develop an institution-wide strategy around student employment as a high-impact
    practice. 
  • Serves as a leadership team member for the full Work + Learn unit within University College-inclusive of designing
    strategy for unit professional development, participation in college leadership meetings/retreats and participation in professional
    committees across the university. 
  • Develops and independently implements new or revised goals and objectives.
  • Any
    other duties assigned by the supervisor

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in a field
appropriate to the area of assignment AND six (6) years of related administrative experience, which includes three (3) years of supervisory
experience; OR, Ten (10) years of related administrative experience, which includes three (3) years of supervisory experience; OR, Any
equivalent combination of education and/or experience from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities have been achieved.

Desired Qualifications

  • Experience in a communications, student-facing program/service coordination, or
    learning community management role in Higher Education or online service sectors. ( 2 years) Past roles and experience in areas such as
    career services, student employment, internship management, student leadership development, etc., are ideal.
  • Demonstrated knowledge
    of the current challenges, trends, and effective strategies to develop the employability of students in higher education.
  • Experience supervising professional staff. (2 years)
  • Experience managing multiple projects and prioritizing
    workload. 
  • Evidence in demonstrating initiative and being a self-starter, while operating within broad guidance
    parameters.
  • Evidence of effective communication skills. 
  • Experience in organizing work of self and others.
  • Evidence of a Master’s degree preferred.

Working Environment

  • Activities are performed
    in an environmentally controlled office setting subject to extended periods of sitting, keyboarding, and manipulating a computer mouse
  • Required to stand for varying lengths of time and walk moderate distances to perform work
  • Occasional bending, reaching,
    lifting, pushing, and pulling up to 25 pounds
  • Regular activities require the ability to quickly change priorities, which may
    include and/or are subject to resolution of conflicts
