The Department of Art at the University of Minnesota seeks applicants for the full-time, tenure-track position of Assistant Professor of Moving Images. We seek an engaged colleague with demonstrated expertise in contemporary Moving Image practice (including narrative, experimental, documentary, or animated Filmmaking or various expanded cinema practices) to strengthen the Department of Art’s area of Photography and Moving Images with a colleague who brings a broad perspective informed by active research on and practice of contemporary moving images. The ideal candidate will have a strong technical and theoretical foundation, as well as an expansive approach that embraces the changing role of moving images and considers our relationship to global society. We seek an artist who understands the complex role of moving images in contemporary society and who is committed to empowering students with the conceptual, technical, and critical skills to develop their creative voices. The ideal candidate will possess a collaborative approach working with colleagues to develop a shared vision for the future of the Photography and Moving Image Area in the context of a liberal arts education with engagement in the greater community. We seek a colleague with a strong professional record and the ability to teach across the moving image curriculum and work with a diverse student body of non-majors, BA, BFA, and MFA students in a dynamic arts environment.
