Description
The Department of Communication Sciences and Disorders at Syracuse University is recruiting a full-time
non-tenure-track clinical teaching faculty position at the Assistant Professor level. This is a full-time 12-month faculty position with
eligibility for promotion.
This position is for a certified speech-language pathologist (SLP) who can work with a wide range of
clients for evaluation and treatment of speech and language disorders in the Gebbie Speech-Language Clinic. The position will require direct
service provision, some on-site student supervision, and assisting the clinic director with management of local externships in the
community.
The position also requires the teaching of one didactic course per year. The employee will participate in departmental
meetings and duties, as well as clinical faculty meetings and may perform other duties as assigned by the clinic director. This position
requires some limited evening hours.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES: Teach and clinically supervise undergraduate and graduate students in
speech-language pathology, provide direct client care, teach undergraduate or graduate courses as assigned and provide service to the
department and university.
Qualifications
- Master’s in Speech-Language Pathology
- ASHA
Certificate of Clinical Competence in Speech-Language Pathology (CCC-SLP) - Current possession of or eligibility for a New York State
License in Speech-Language Pathology - At least nine months of clinical practice as a speech-language pathologist
post-certification, - Clinical experience in assessment and treatment of early childhood and/or school-age communication
disorders - A demonstrated commitment to excellence in teaching and clinical supervision.
- Desired experience in one or more
areas including AAC, autism, speech sound disorders, language disorders, literacy and/or fluency.
Job Specific
Qualifications
- Experience working with adults and children who have speech and language disorders required,
particularly pre-school and school-age children. - Experience working with children and adults with voice disorders and with
alternative and augmentative communication (AAC) needs is preferred but not required. - Experience supervising students is
desirable. - Candidates should have the ability to develop connections with local professionals and sites in the community and
communication skills to maintain strong relationships between the Gebbie Clinic and local sites.
Responsibilities
- Perform speech-language treatment/evaluation sessions with children/adults in Gebbie
Clinic. - Teach undergraduate or graduate courses as assigned and provide service to the department and
university. - Supervision of undergraduate and graduate students in the Gebbie clinic.
