Certified Waterworks Operator

North Salt Spring Waterworks District is seeking a Certified Waterworks Operator.

Located in the beautiful Southern Gulf Islands, Salt Spring Island is a vibrant, active rural community and a great place to live. Surrounded by the Salish Sea, the area offers a year-round mild climate with a broad selection of pursuits for the outdoor enthusiast. Amenities and services include excellent elementary and secondary schools, a hospital, library, renowned arts and culinary options, and health and wellness retreats. Greater Victoria and the Cowichan Valley are both just a short ferry ride away.

The Operator plays a key role in ensuring the continuance of high-quality drinking water production and distribution. The District supplies surface water from St. Mary and Maxwell Lakes. A level IV DAF plant and a complex level IV distribution and reservoir system convey water to approximately 5,600 full time residents. Plans are underway to construct an additional DAF water treatment plant for the Maxwell system.

The ideal candidate has a minimum level II or III certification in water distribution and water treatment. Depending on certification levels and experience, the wage for this position ranges from $81,078.40 to $94,515.20 annually and is eligible for overtime and standby pay. Level I certification may also be considered at a lower rate. The District has a comprehensive benefits package and provides a bi-weekly RRSP contribution paid into a self-directed RRSP fund equal to 8.61% of the employee’s annual salary.
