Description

The Computing Coordinator II provides intermediate to advanced level, on-site and remote,
desktop technical assistance to faculty, staff, and students, including setting up computer hardware, installing and upgrading software, and
troubleshooting intermediate to complex IT Issues. Establishes a working knowledge of the University’s network to troubleshoot network
connectivity, communicates technical solutions, and provides one-on-one end-user training as needed. Conducts software and hardware
inventory database maintenance and performs work as established by the Office of Information Technology guidelines.

Duties:

  • Schedules office visits and troubleshoots hardware/software/networking problems. Diagnoses,
    researches, and corrects issues, including the detection and elimination of computer viruses. Provides coordination, control, and support of
    departmental faculty and staff office computers, lab and classroom support, conference rooms, required software, and associated network
    connections. Responsible for maintaining the department’s desktop computer hardware inventory following university policies and procedures
    by utilizing OIT’s Ticketing System. Responsible for tracking work requests using OIT Ticketing System and completes work promptly.
  • Installs operating systems on PC and Apple computers. Configures and installs software applications, workgroups, network, and all
    peripherals as specified on the client interview form. Reviews interview forms, assessing users’ computer needs, and resolves questions
    before beginning installs. Sets up and configure applications, email, Internet access, networked and local printers, files shares, and
    peripherals according to OIT guidelines. Trains users on how to ensure their data is being backed up properly. Ensures all problems are
    resolved before leaving the client area.
  • Participates in departmental technology-based meetings and provides input for requested
    strategies and initiatives. Communicates problems to the Supervisor that impact the user community.
  • Assists in receiving,
    distributing, and documenting new department hardware and software as it arrives at OIT and performs related duties as assigned.


Qualifications

Required:

  1. Bachelor’s degree in Computer
    Science, Information Systems or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  2. Minimum of three years
    of experience working with software and hardware support for PCs and Apple computer systems including peripherals, operating systems, and
    diagnostic software.
  3. CompTIA A+ Certification within 18 months of hire.
  4. Proficiency with PC and Apple computer systems and
    knowledge of multi-platform operating systems and Microsoft Office supported applications. Software knowledge must include Internet browser,
    working tools and diagnostic software.
  5. Ability to diagnose and repair computing technology including, but not limited to software,
    hardware, operating system, peripherals, etc.
  6. Ability to troubleshoot PC and Apple computers and multiplatform operating systems,
    Microsoft Office applications, and troubleshoot various software applications.
  7. Excellent verbal and written communications skills
    in English. Must be able to communicate problems to Supervisor that impact the user community.
  8. Excellent interpersonal skills and
    ability to interact with users in a service-oriented manner.
  9. Ability to conduct technical training and to prioritize tasks, follow
    policies and procedures, meet deadlines and handle multiple projects simultaneously.

Desired:

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field.

Four years of experience troubleshooting and
repairing hardware and software on PCs and Apple systems with associated peripherals in a higher education environment.

Apple
Certified Macintosh Technician (ACMT) and/or JAMF Certified.
