Salary is commensurate with experience.
Position Summary
This position reports to the Dean and is responsible for strategic planning, implementation, budget, and metrics of all marketing functions across all platforms to increase enrollments in CPaGE’s domestic, professional, and international programs. The Director of Marketing and Communications will supervise and develop a team, including, but not limited to, a web programmer, web programming specialist and social media content specialist, that is collaborative, creative and accountable.
Position Information
Marketing Leadership
- Manage, develop, and implement strategy and initiatives that promote and grow all CPaGE programs across all media (e.g., social, print, website).
- Create an annual marketing plan with measurable outcomes and review quarterly.
- Work in concert with the Dean and leadership team to determine the strategies and tactics that drive the creation and distribution of traditional, digital, and other marketing efforts.
- Build and launch campaigns based on the agreed upon strategies and tactics.
- Establish and manage an annual marketing budget.
- Employ analytics and follow-up research to determine which avenues provide the most return for a limited marketing budget.
- Determine target markets, audiences, and media through research, focus groups and other methods to continually increase CPaGE’s enrollment and branding awareness.
- Build creative briefs and positional strategies, marketing plans and other guiding documents that set the goals and objectives for each campaign/project and that outline and track a clear set of deliverables.
- Determine sustainable and effective ways to work with divisions across the college to help them build high-quality, targeted, affordable, and on-brand efforts to reach their specific needs within the CPaGE overall marketing strategy.
- Establish a common language and talking points for leadership and staff to employ when presenting CPaGE’s mission, vision, and goals.
- Report out regularly to college staff, leadership and other stakeholders via email and presentations.
- Develop a consistent CPaGE graphic style that aligns with university guidelines.
Managerial
- Manage and develop a productive, collaborative and outcomes driven marketing team.
- Supervise the marketing department staff and mentor professional development.
- Model effective communication strategies and provide coaching as needed.
Administrative/Cross-Campus Collaboration
- Develop productive relationships with SF State Strategic Marketing and Communications and other SF State departments as needed to realize marketing goals.
- Align CPaGE marketing initiatives with the university’s strategic initiatives and priorities.
- Secure affordable and effective marketing opportunities for the CPaGE by developing solid relationships with available outlets and a continually expanding understanding of the options becoming available.
- Oversee campaign deliverables in a project management system to ensure timeline, approvals and budget are met.
- Manage CRM (customer relationship management) software and lead implementation of same.
- Manage multiple workflows, priorities and projects simultaneously.
- Stay informed of and ensures industry best practices and outcomes that support the goals, brand, image, and mission of CPaGE across all media channels.

Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in business administration, marketing, or similar field.
- 5 years of strategic marketing experience in higher education with a proven track record of results.
- 5 years of managerial experience.
- Demonstrated, excellent people skills.
- Demonstrated, excellent communication skills.
- Demonstrated, excellent project management skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master’s degree in business administration or similar field.
- Experience managing staff in a represented environment.
- Knowledge of CSU procedures and relevant policies.
