Job Description
This position develops strategies and implements plans to effectively promote Idaho State University across social and digital media platforms. Building strong online engagement with different targeted audiences, including Idaho State’s students, is key to the success of this position. The Digital and Social Media Manager interacts with campus stakeholders to gather and create content that promotes the University and shares campus resources and involvement opportunities. This position also works collaboratively with other marketing and communication professionals to creatively craft content. This position is also a resource to the campus community by providing social media training and digital media best practices.
Key Responsibilities
Social Media Management: 80%
- Working independently, lead the university’s social media strategy and implement efforts across platforms
- Oversee content creation for ISU’s president’s Instagram and LinkedIn
- Explore new social media platforms for possible inclusion
- Develop a comprehensive, strategic, 12-month editorial calendar to manage the production of consistent, high-quality content for ISU’s online communications, allowing for content to be scheduled and posted consistently and appropriately according to platform best practices throughout the year
- Implement creative, interactive campaigns designed to spark interest and engagement with supporters across campuses, audiences & stakeholders
- Convert and edit news stories into social media-friendly format
- Attend, create content, and manage live coverage of campus events, as necessary (may require evening and weekend work)
- Collaborate with marketing professionals across campus to implement successful social media strategies
- Serve on Strategic Marketing Team to communicate upcoming events and social media promotions with the team
- Assist in the development and communication of digital media standards and best practice guidelines
- Serve as a resource and provide ongoing training for the campus community on social media trends and best practices
- Research and stay current on relevant social media trends related to higher education and industry best practices
- Set clear benchmarks and goals for social media activities, and develop analytics to measure success
- Assist, initiate, oversee, and apply market research and analytics
- Work closely with the Executive Director of Communications to ensure the visual identity and key messages are consistent and reflect the University’s mission

Special Projects 20%
- Oversee creation and scheduling of digital billboards for the purposes of bringing community members to campus for a variety of events, workshops and engagement opportunities
- Collaborate with Admissions, Alumni/Advancement, and Student Affairs to assist in the development and execution of digital marketing campaigns and paid social advertising to support enrollment, alumni engagement, and fundraising initiatives
- Serve on departmental or divisional task forces or committees as assigned
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in communications, digital media, digital marketing or a related field
- Minimum of 12 months experience managing social media for a business or organization, using a variety of platforms
- Understanding of digital media advertising across platforms in order to achieve organizational goals
- Excellent written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills
- Experience advising others in relation to digital media strategy and content creation
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience managing social media at a higher education institution
- Experience setting and guiding the strategic development of social media content creation and engagement growth
- Experience supervising other employees in relation to digital media strategy and content creation
Additional Information

Salary will be between $55,000 – $58,000 per year, commensurate with education and experience.
