Do you want to help strengthen our focus on enzyme biogeochemistry and lipid ecology?

DTU AQUA invites applications for a position as tenure-track researcher in the section for OCEANS AND ARCTIC. Our research aims to understand the biogeochemical cycling of carbon in the ocean. An emphasis is placed on the role of ligninolytic enzymes in the sequestration of terrestrial carbon. In this position you will work with lipid ecologists to quantify the carbon sequestration through the marine food web. You are also expected to complement the marine research portfolio at the Section for Oceans and Arctic as well as across DTU Aqua.

As our new colleague you will be part of a diverse team, which is engaged in aquatic environmental analytical chemistry focusing on enzyme biogeochemistry, lipid analytics, dissolved organic matter, spectroscopy, and chemometrics.

Responsibilities and qualifications

Through your commitment, you will advance the research field of enzyme biogeochemistry and marine chemistry. We seek a profile who is highly self-motivated and able to attract external funding. You are expected to collaborate within the department and across campus, as well as with international scientists. You are keen on producing innovative research with an eye on commercialization of innovative ideas.

Our new colleague must

  • Hold a PhD degree (or equivalent) in Marine Sciences or Environmental Analytical Chemistry.
  • Have documented research experience in chemical oceanography, environmental analytical chemistry, and statistics.
  • Have experience and a strong interest in innovation and technology transfer
  • Have strong skills in scientific programming (R, Phyton, or Matlab)
  • Have a good record of peer-reviewed publications
  • Be able to document success in obtaining funding
  • Have an international network of collaborators
  • Contribute to the teaching of courses and be interested in mentoring students
  • Have good communication skills both in oral and written English. Speaking Danish at a basic level is an advantage.

DTU employs two working languages: Danish and English. You are expected to be fluent in at least one of these languages, and in time you are expected to master both.
