About You / What We Are Looking For
This challenging and rewarding role, in the Engineering and Public Works Department, supports full life-cycle management of public infrastructure assets, such as water and sewer mains, pump stations, roads, streetlights, sidewalks, bridges to name a few. You will be responsible for developing programs and carrying out inspections, and managing repair and replacement of various engineering and public works assets. Other duties will include preparing annual and long-term budgets and developing requests for proposal (RFPs), evaluating proposals and, working closely and overseeing work of external contractors and consultants. In addition, you will collect, process and analyze data, and model various end-of-life replacements in various software platforms.
Your success in this role requires working independently, having considerable knowledge of municipal engineering practices including their application in asset management concepts, criteria and practices, project design and construction, and in the preparation, review, analysis and interpretation of engineering plans, specifications, contract documents and related material. The position also requires collaboration, coordination of works, and communication with a variety of internal and external partners.
Minimum Qualifications
- Diploma in a related discipline (such as Civil/Structural Engineering) from an institute of technology
- Completion of a recognized Asset Management training program including considerable engineering or asset management experience or equivalent combination of training and experience
- Certification or eligibility for certification as an Applied Science Technologist within the Province of BC
- Valid BC Driver’s License, is required
Preferred Qualifications
- Hands-on skills in data analysis, processing and database operations.
- Hands-on skills in ARCGIS and Computerized Maintenance Management Systems such as IBM Maximo.
What We Offer:
This CUPE position has an hourly rate range of $48.08 – $56.82 (2024 RATES). The rate of pay is based on a variety of factors including qualifications, knowledge, experience and skills.
