Job Description


Summary

The Full-time Assistant Professor in the Master of Speech Language Pathology Program within the
Communication Sciences and Disorders department at the MGH Institute will be primarily responsible for teaching, student mentoring and
advising, and course development with the MS-SLP program. The position is for a PhD prepared faculty member with expertise in child language
and literacy, or motor speech and dysphagia. Additional responsibilities include participation in scholarly/research activities, developing
collaborative opportunities with other health professions, contributing to interprofessional education within the School of Health and
Rehabilitation Sciences
, and select service on program committees.

Teaching (50%):

  • Provide teaching and
    carry a workload of approximately 18-21 credits per year.
  • Potentially provide clinical supervision of master’s graduate students
    within the Speech, Language, and Literacy Clinic depending on interest and needs of the program.
  • Provide mentorship and advising to
    graduate students in the CSD master’s program.
  • Assist program faculty and staff in creating a culture of inclusivity and
    equity.
  • Maintain academic standards and policies.

Scholarship (30%):

  • Engage in scholarship as
    required by all faculty, including but not limited to writing and publishing manuscripts related to own research program, presenting at
    local, regional or national conferences, engaging in research team opportunities arising from affiliated research labs, and additional
    scholarly activities related to area of expertise.

Service (20%):

  • Provide service to the profession, the
    CSD department or the Institute by serving on committees and task forces as appropriate.

Education:

  • PhD or
    EdD in CSD or related field
  • ASHA CCC-SLP and Massachusetts state SLP License
  • Demonstrated expertise in pediatric language
    with specialization in literacy disorders and intervention techniques for these disorders or motor speech disorders,
    dysphagia.
  • Strong commitment to interprofessional education in the health professions
  • Strong commitment to justice, equity,
    diversity and inclusion issues within the field of speech-language pathology
