Full Stack Developer-CERIAS

Job Summary

Purdue’s Center for Education and Research in Information Assurance and Security (CERIAS) is looking to for an experienced and talented technologist to 1). develop and maintain web applications, handling both front-end and back-end aspects of the development process, 2). provide research support through programming and designing web applications and scripting tools, and 3). maintain the Center’s web presence.

The ideal candidate should have a solid understanding of PHP, Python, Linux, Adobe suite products, MySQL, PostgreSQL, MongoDB, Apache, and web security practices.

Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree in graphic design, computer graphics technology, visual communication design, or related fields
  • Five (5) years of in-house, agency, or related equivalent full stack web development experience
  • Proven experience as a Full Stack Web Developer or similar role
  • Strong familiarity with Linux operating systems and command-line tools
  • Knowledge working in Adobe Creative Suite with particular knowledge in Illustrator, InDesign, Premiere, and Photoshop
  • Expert knowledge of PHP, Python, HTML, CSS, and JavaScript
  • Proficiency using MySQL or PostgreSQL, and NoSQL databases like MongoDB
  • Expert knowledge of best web security practices and how to configure and secure web servers
  • Knowledge of content management systems
  • Understanding of web architecture: can set up and configure servers and manage hosting environments.
  • Expert knowledge of UX principles.
  • Expert knowledge of interface layouts and information architecture.
  • Experience managing multiple projects.
  • Knowledge of web accessibility and best practices.
  • Understanding web standards, browser performance, and brand consistency across web properties
  • Strong problem-solving and debugging skills
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision and direction
  • Excellent attention to detail and a passion for creating visually appealing user interfaces
  • Good interpersonal skills with demonstrated success in collaborating and problem-solving with stakeholders, project teams, and external partners
  • Knowledgeable about the website’s users and industry
  • Ability to successfully manage multiple projects and priorities in a deadline-driven environment
  • Exceptional communication and organizational skills
  • Proven ability to build consensus and work effectively within a cross-departmental team
  • Basic knowledge of shooting and editing digital video
