Are you looking for a new and challenging opportunity? Get your feet wet and dive into a Guard/Instructor role with the City of Abbotsford!

As the successful candidate, you will ensure a safe and enjoyable leisure experience for patrons while performing lifeguarding and instructional activities. Your training and keen eye for detail will allow you to actively respond to emergency situations by performing rescue functions and providing assistance to patrons in need. Your strong communication and relationship building skills will be essential as you provide instruction in a variety of aquatic and related programs. In addition, you will conduct regular inspections of rescue and emergency equipment, monitor pool chemistry as required and perform assigned janitorial and maintenance tasks as required.

To be considered for this position you must have the following certifications:

  • Lifesaving Society – Swim for Life Instructor
  • National Lifeguard (Pool Option)
  • CPR Level C with AED  – (within 1 year as per NL requirement)

*All certifications must be current and copies must be submitted with your online application in order to be considered for the position. Re-certifications that are completed during the recruitment and selection process must be uploaded to the online portal for your application to remain in competition. During employment, it is the responsibility of the employee to ensure certifications are valid at all times.

This position is unionized, CUPE Local 774, and the hourly rate of pay is from $24.64 to $28.98.
