The Position – A Professional Opportunity to Join a Dynamic Team

We are looking for an individual excited about becoming a key member of our Corporate Services team that is focused on coordinating the City’s Health and Safety programs. Reporting to the Manager of Human Resources, you will be responsible for updating, developing, communicating and assist in implementing programs, procedures and safe work practices that affect the City’s Health and Safety program. The Health and Safety Coordinator will also provide information to management of all new legislative Health and Safety regulatory requirements.
 
The incumbent will also assist, coordinate and provide support to all safety related programs, systems and training and is the key contact for WorkSafe BC & the Disability Management Programs.

The successful candidate will have a minimum of 3 years working in a Health & Safety environment for a municipality in a unionized environment. Post-secondary diploma or certificate in Occupational Health and/or Safety. Certification related to an accredited Health & Safety program such as the CRSP designation (Canadian Registered Safety Professional) is an asset. Knowledge of the Worker’s Compensation Act and WorkSafeBC OHS regulations. Experience in accident investigations, safe work practices, workplace inspections and delivering of safety training to diverse work groups.
