Job Description:
The
Helpdesk, Web, and Data Specialist will report to the Director of Distance Learning and perform the following duties:
- Oversight and administration of the Distance Learning Helpdesk Ticketing System, including the training and management of student
assistants in collaboration with the Director. Develop standards for response times, communication protocols, and statistical reporting that
highlights strengths and weaknesses, areas for improvement, and periodic data insights to be used for Annual Reports and other documentation
or communication. - Develop a user-centered, engaging, and robust departmental website that meets the needs of the department,
work with the College’s Marketing and Communications department to design and deliver innovative webpage layouts and content organization as
requested by the Director, and develop procedures and workflows for delegating copy-editing and content review to the Office Adm.
Assistant. - Design, implement, and maintain a departmental database that accurately stores and retrieves tiered data which complex
relational dependencies in a data warehousing tool such as Access, Power BI, SQL, or other relational database solution. Develop dynamic
report links to allow faculty, staff, and administration accurate data on demand. - Stay abreast of technological innovations as they
relate the Brightspace Learning Management System in order to support faculty, staff and students with common questions. - Liaise
with other campus and SUNY related departments, such as Information Technology, SUNY Online Helpdesk, etc. as needed to research technical
issues, troubleshoot helpdesk requests, and respond to internal requests for SUNY-level support. - Provide Learning Management
System/Brightspace (LMS) support, including assisting faculty/staff/students with course troubleshooting. - Support the LMS
Administrator as required for assisting with integration projects, testing integration environments, and other duties relating to 3rd-party
integrations. - Support the Office of Distance Learning to provide expert hardware including, but not limited to, lab maintenance,
conference room technology, desktop and printer support, speakers, software, etc. - Provide the Office of Distance Learning with
expert support in troubleshooting hardware including, but not limited to, computer lab maintenance, conference room technology, desktop and
printer support, speakers, software, etc. - Provide the Office of Distance Learning with expert software support including, but not
limited to, Panopto, MS Teams, Qualtrics, Power BI, OU Campus etc.
This is a 12-month full-time position that may be eligible
for a telecommuting option of up to two days.

Requirements:
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s Degree in related field.
- Ability to communicate technical information to non-technical personnel and students.
- Knowledge in website design and maintenance.
- Knowledge in database design and maintenance.
- Knowledge with
Learning Management Systems (Brightspace, Blackboard, etc.).
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Master’s
Degree. - One year experience with website design, database design and maintenance, and/or LMS support.
Additional Information:
This is a full-time UUP position.
- For the first 10 working days,
beginning Tuesday, December 12, 2023, and ending Tuesday, December 26, 2023, applications
will be limited to UUP Farmingdale. - CLOSING DATE FOR RECEIPT OF APPLICATIONS: Wednesday, January 10,
2024 - SALARY: $55,000 + $3,087 in downstate location pay = $58,087 Total Compensation. Salary may increase
commensurate with experience.
